Obesity and Americans, Were get fatter as we speak!

I would like to thank you for visiting and reading this article. The topic has been carefully researched and documented for your benefit.

Americans are fatter than ever, say the authors of a new study, even with the latest diet pills, nutritional labels that are broken down, and fitness trends available to help them control their weight. If something doesn’t change, it’s a sure thing that almost every adult will be overweight in the next generation.

While the latest diet trends seem to come and go, there is no indication that those excess pounds are going with them. In fact, the rate of obesity just seems to be getting worse. In a recent study reported in the magazine Science, reported that over 54 % of adult Americans are overweight and 22 % are overweight. This has been an increase in about 1/3 of Americans over the last 20 years.

Because there are so many adults that are now overweight, it has now affected our children. There are more than 25% of children today that are now considered obese or overweight. This percentage has grown over 40% in the last 16 years. The likely hood that the percentages for overweight adults will increase in later years is due to the fact that more adolescence are now overweight.

Our culture and society is a large blame for the increase in obesity. An abundance of food, social gatherings that encourage winning and dinning, restaurants with giant size portions and the endless buffet, and high tech-technology that allows you to do almost anything that you want from the comforts of your sofa, making it possible to completely avoid a type of exercise, except for the hand to mouth movement.

It’s a given that if America continues to promote large food quantities and less physical activity, it won’t be long before everyone in the U.S. is overweight. Obesity has turned into a disease that could one day become an epidemic.

Not only does obesity affect your appearance, it also affects your health as well. It is a known contributor to heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, high blood pressure, and many more diseases. While obesity is now considered a disease, it is still low on the totem pole when it comes to health care providers.

Americans that are obese are often discriminated against not only in the work place, but in social settings as well. Not only can finding a decent job be hard, but if you are extremely overweight, you can be faced with other disabilities that keep you from working at all. Simply getting out of bed can be an everyday struggle.

It is thought that the lack of nutritional education available during the baby boomer era is part of the cause. Times and society were different and not so far advanced, so there was not the need to educate Americans on high fat or the nutritional value in food.

Professionals in the health industry are hopeful that by re-educating America in health and nutrition there will be a start to a healthier society and a means to eliminating the battle of the bulge.
